Detroit Polonia's Book Launch

(Around the table starting on the left: Barb, Cheryl Funk, Maddy Wagner, Art Wagner, The Pruss', Genevieve Marie Dunneback, Valerie Koselka)

It was a beautiful setting... surrounded by the Polish culture. The topic was an exciting one for all those present. The food was excellent. The company was the best. It was a lot of fun! Ceil's book was worth celebrating and a cold grey February day made the warm festive atmosphere all the more appreciated. I enjoyed seeing Detroit's Polish historians, and they were there en masse. The walking encyclopedia of Detroit Polonia architecture and little known facts, Jim Tye; The king of Detroit Polonia obituary collections, Ken Merique; the past manager of the Burton Collection, David Poremba; representing the Polish parishes of the Detroit area were Father Borkowski of Sweetest Heart of Mary Church in Detroit and Father Ptak of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Wyandotte; the photographer of Polish cemetery gravestones, William Gorski; the Queen of the Polish Genealogical Society of Michigan, Kathleen Labudie Szakall; to name a few, attended the event.

It was especially nice to visit with my genealogy buddy Valerie Koselka. And Ceil gave a very enlightening presentation on how she put the book together. Oh yeah, and the paczki were good too! I had a wonderful time and I have some new memories to keep.
