The Life and Times of Karolina Furman

Thanks to fM for the poster!
My great grandmother, Karolina Furman, was nothing more to me than a name on the family tree before I took on the task of writing her biography for Women's History Month. I've learned a great deal about her in the past couple of weeks, but I can't help wishing I had learned more. She lived long ago and far away in a place and time I can only imagine. I have no picture of her to share with you so you will have to use your imagination too. Here is the series of articles I've written that comprise her biography.

  1. Jasia,

That was an awesome series! Very well done...brava! You gave me some good ideas for what I *could* have included in mine, but did not. I think you deserve to be the featured author in this next COG with all the work you put into this.

  2. Thank you for your suggestion that I make myself the featured author for this edition of the COG Donna. Wow, that is so nice! I won't do it because I'm much too modest for that sort of thing but I am really touched that you think my article is worthy of that honor. You've made my day!!!

I have to admit that I put a tremendous amount of time and effort into this biography and timeline, much more than I anticipated. But it was something I needed to do for Karolina. I wanted to know her. I needed her to be more than just a name on the family tree. And now she is :-)

  3. Jasia,
I knew from the moment I read your timeline for Karolina that I was going to be enthralled. I was right. In each and every article you gave life to your great grandmother Karolina as well as giving such a clear sense of time and place.

Thank you for sharing such a well-told and well-researched story with us.
