Carnival of Genealogy, 102nd Edition

Welcome to the February 4, 2011 edition of the Carnival of Genealogy. The topic for this edition is: The 4th Annual iGene Awards! This is the award show for genealogy bloggers. This is when we look back at 2010 and select those posts that appeared on our blogs that deserve special recognition. It's our chance to highlight blog posts in 5 categories, Best Picture, Best Screen Play, Best Documentary, Best Biography, and Best Comedy. These are the best of the best!

Please pour yourself a glass of the bubbly and mingle with the crowd a bit. The show will be starting in just a few minutes. In the mean time, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has participated in this edition. You are all winners! Pat yourselves on the back for another year of writing outstanding blog articles on a variety of topics related to genealogy. You are all so gracious to share what you know about genealogy, technology, photography, methodology, and your ancestors. Bravo to you!

And now... dim the lights, bring up the spot, cue the orchestra... Introducing, the iGene Awards!

Cheryl Schulte starts us off with The 2010 iGene Awards for Two Sides of the Ocean posted at Two Sides of the Ocean, saying, "Come along for a glimpse of my submissions for my 2010 iGene award out of the 17 posts that I wrote in 2010." Cheryl is a great writer and all of her 17 posts deserve to be read by the masses. But I think you'll agree that her 4 choices for the iGene awards were her best! Thanks, Cheryl!

Dorene Paul presents Annual iGenie Awards for 102nd COG posted at Graveyard Rabbit of Sandusky Bay, saying, "Dorene from Ohio presents the iGenie Awards for 2010 from the Graveyard Rabbit of Sandusky Bay." Dorene had a difficult choice to make when selecting her blog posts from 2010. She's a consistently outstanding writer and a regular contributor to the Carnival of Genealogy. Thanks, Dorene!

Cynthia Shenette presents And the Award Goes To... posted at Heritage Zen:, saying, "What can I say about this one? I can already hear my husband saying, "Did you go over the top again sweetie?" Let's just say I love creative writing, and the iGene Awards offered me the perfect opportunity to write creatively." Oooh, you're gonna love this one! Cynthia does a wonderful job of creatively and humorously introducing us to her iGene Award winning posts. Don't miss it! (Oh yes, and you can see her wearing a gown made from the same fabric as my own bedroom draperies. To die for! ;-)  Thanks, Cynthia!

Call for Submissions! The topic for the next edition of the Carnival of Genealogy will be: Women's History! This is the perfect opportunity to write a biography about a woman on your family tree, research an aspect of history that relates to women, or create a collage of photos featuring the women in your family. However you choose to honor women, post it to your blog and submit it to the 103rd COG by March 1st. International Women's Day is March 8th!

Submit your blog article to the next edition of the Carnival of Genealogy using our carnival submission form. Please use a descriptive phrase in the title of any articles you plan to submit and/or write a brief description/introduction to your articles in the "comment" box of the blog carnival submission form. This will give readers an idea of what you've written about and hopefully interest them in clicking on your link. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
