Jasia Revealed

I've been tagged (for a meme) by Susan Kitchens. What does this mean? It means I'm supposed to divulge 5 things about myself that you probably don't know, and then tag 5 other bloggers to do the same. I guess it's sort of like an online chain letter. I'm generally not fond of chain letters and as a rule don't participate in them. But this one actually seems like innocent fun so I'm not going to be a party pooper this time around. Here are 5 things you probably don't know about me, but maybe you should ;-)
  1. Jasia isn't my real name. It's an online persona used for privacy purposes. My business name is Jann, same story... an online persona used for business purposes (my business is all online afterall). Jasia is a Polish version of Jann, sort of, so the two kind of tie together. I've used Jann much longer than I've used Jasia. I like both. Feel free to call me either.
  2. When I was 16, I spent a summer semester at Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, PA to learn all things Polish... language, dance, history, etc. But I learned more about boys than I did about the Polish stuff ;-)
  3. I once saw a UFO. It was hovering above my high school. My girlfriend and I were on our way to school for play practice when we saw it. We freaked out and ran across the parking lot screaming for all we were worth. Nobody at the play practice believed us but the next day the sighting was reported on the local news. Apparently others in the neighborhood had seen it too.
  4. My favorite color is pink.
  5. My undergraduate major was psychology and I have a master's degree in social work. I'm a licensed Master Social Worker with the State of Michigan. I worked on and off for 15 years as a clinical therapist before making a career change (to web site designer) in the mid 1990s.
So there you have it. Jasia revealed!

Now I get to tag 5 blogging buddies to each share 5 things about themselves that we don't already know. Let's see... how about Chris Dunham, Randy Seaver, Lee Anders, Miriam Robbins Midkiff, and Steve Danko. Who wants to play?

  1. I always thought Jasia was a great name - and I thought it had to be your right name. It matched your blog picture - wistful, romantic, mysterious, beautiful, thoughtful. Then there is Jann - with a double 'n' - another tantalizing name - unique, at least in the genea-blogging world.

I'll play - but I need to figure out five things that I haven't posted about myself - and then find 5 bloggers who will be willing to play too. We will run out of genea-bloggers in about 3 rounds, I fear!

    Anything for blog fodder, eh?

    Take care -- Randy

  2. Jasia,

Glad you took the bait! :) (I'm also bummed about not contributing to the food fest. Had it all planned out, made the dish, have thought about it, and so on and so on. Was gonna call family members to talk about how it's made -- and record that -- but dang, there are things which are just occupying me so. If I do it, I'll post a link in the comment to that post)

And Randy, how can you say only 3 rounds... it oughtta go on forever and ever, ad infinitum, no? ;)

(I made it a point to "tag" people new to me or new to blogging, in order to share the meme-wealth)

  3. Randy you've described me to a T! Wow! What great insight you have! Do you have a degree in psychology too? I'm all those things you said. Yep, that's me :-) You did forgot one important adjective though... sexy. I am a Scorpio you know ;-) I guess that didn't come through in my photo. I'll have to work on that...

  4. I thought I posted a witty and information-packed response but it got lost, so i'll try again.

Susan -- I should have said 4 more rounds - that would be 625 different in the 5th round, or a totla if 781 if everyone played. Chris Dunham has only over 500 genealogy blogs on his site.

There are millions of bloggers, I guess, but I don't know many past the genealogy world, and they don't know me.

Jasia - nope, an engineering degree...but many years of dealing with people has provided some intuitive skills in addition to logic skills.

I thought of adding sexy, but I already had 5 adjectives and I thought I'd stay away from any controversy. Your pic only shows your face and your dog, so I couldn't judge the whole person. Will you buy a "Sexy Genealogist" T-shirt from JMK and then show us a picture of you wearing it? I will if you will!

    Take care -- Randy

    PS. I played...

  5. I survived the flu! Barely, but still the victor I am. LOL... Talk to you again soon...
