You're Invited to a Swieconka and a Polish Wedding
There were a couple of items of interest to Detroit Polonia in the most recent newsletter from the West Side Detroit Polish American Historical Society. First up is a pilgrimage and Swieconka.

And then here's an event you definitely won't want to miss... a Polish Wedding! That's right, a 60s/Polish Wedding Party is being planned!!!
After this (way too) long, (way too) cold winter, the WSDPAHS is planning its first "meet and mingle" party for this coming June, and it’s anticipated that it will be a blast! Ladies, get out your fishnet stockings, white gloves, rat‐tailed combs, hairspray and bridal veils; guys, dig out your high‐topped boots, white shirts and skinny neckties! We’re planning a ‘60s/Polish Wedding Party for Saturday, June 20. Remember wedding receptions with traditional Polish food, Jordan almonds, oranges on the tables (yes, with cloves stuck in them), all the traditions such as Oczepiny and the Grand March, and all the music, including Troska Porodina (the Polish Wedding March), Po Ślubie (After the Ceremony), Dwanaście Aniołów (Twelve Angels), Jak Szybko MijająChilwe (How Quickly Time Passes), Tatusiu (Daddy’s) Waltz, Trzy Kanarki (Three Canaries), and doing the Twist to Iskiereczki Ognia (Sparks of Fire) Polka (not to mention all that way‐cool ‘60s mainstream music)? We plan to recreate it! All those married in the ‘60s, get ready to walk down the aisle again (at least figuratively) – ladies, with your bridal veils! Dig out your photos to bring! Details to follow soon!
Now doesn't that sound like a blast!?! Oh the memories...
The WSDPAHS is a great organization. If you haven't joined yet, what are you waiting for? Join the group and join in the fun!

Carnival of Genealogy, 67th Edition
The 67th edition of the Carnival of Genealogy has been posted at Destination: Austin Family. Thomas did a great job of putting it together! Thank you, Thomas! The topic for this edition is: Nobody's Fool. Head on over and check it out. You'll be glad you did! :-)In keeping with the month of March being National Women's History Month, and March 8th being International Women's Day, the topic for the next edition of the Carnival of Genealogy will once again be: A Tribute to Women. Write a tribute to a woman on your family tree, a friend, a neighbor, or a historical female figure who has done something to impact your life. Or instead of writing, consider sharing a photo biography of one woman's life. Or create a scrapbook page dedicated to a woman you'd like to honor. The next edition will be hosted at Creative Gene. The deadline for submissions is March 15th.
Submit your blog article to the next edition of the Carnival of Genealogy using the carnival submission form. Please use a descriptive phrase in the title of any articles you plan to submit and/or write a brief description/introduction to your articles in the "comment" box of the blogcarnival submission form. This will give readers an idea of what you've written about and hopefully interest them in clicking on your link.
Thanks for the COG poster, fM!
