Best WiFi Hotels for Genealogists

Those of you who are planning genealogy research trips this summer, especially genea-bloggers, will want to have access to the internet while you're on the road. So when it comes to making hotel reservations it's good to know which hotels offer the fastest, most reliable, yet free WiFi. You may also be interested in knowing which hotels are the worst for WiFi. Well boys and girls, you're in luck.

Just in time for the summer travel season, the HotelChatter web site has compiled a list of the Best WiFi Hotels 2007 and the Worst WiFi Hotels 2007. Topping the list of the best are the Marriott properties including Residence Inn, Courtyard (my personal favorite), and Springhill Suites. I'm not at all surprised by this. I travelled around the country for a month back in 2001 staying at Marriott properties whenever possible and enjoyed free internet access virtually everywhere. I don't travel often so I was surprised to learn that every other hotel in the nation hasn't gotten with the program yet... especially given how relatively inexpensive it is to install a wireless network!

You may be surprised to learn that some of the most well known luxury hotels make up the list of worst WiFi hotels. I know I was. How sad is that?

For those of you lucky enough to be traveling internationally to do your genealogy research, HotelChatter also offers International WiFi Hotel Experiences.

So, now excuses now... take your laptop along on your research trip and keep us posted on your adventures!
