For those of you who are doing genealogy research in Detroit, Michigan, you may be pleased to know that Ancestry now has the city directory for 1885 available on their web site.
My great grandparents were here at the time but they don't show up in the directory. Still, I think it will be useful to me for including details when I do my rewrite on my 2006 NaNoWriMo novel.
I sure wish Ancestry would put the Detroit city directory for 1920 back online. That was a most valuable one since it had the "old" and "new" addresses for residences and businesses in the city. Does anyone know why Ancestry took down a whole slew of city directories a couple years ago? I never have heard what that was about.
