WSDPAHS Annual Oplatek
The West Side Detroit Polish American Historical Society will hold its Christmas event entitled 'Annual Opłatek' on Friday, December 28, at its headquarters in historic St. Hedwig Catholic Church at 3245 Junction, south of Michigan Avenue, Detroit, beginning at 2:30 p.m. The event will include sharing of the opłatek, a short tour of the church and Heritage Room led by society president and church archivist Adam Lis, and refreshments. The feature event will be a program of familiar traditional polish kolędy led by west side music director/organist Steve Frayer, followed by a brief talk by Mr. Frayer about the history of the kolęda and the introduction of a few new pieces that those attending probably will not have heard before. Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted. All are welcome!
