Blog Action Day is coming.
Have you heard of it? It's a coordinated effort that spans the blogosphere, across all types of blogs, to raise awareness on one topic. The trick is to not go off-topic from your blog in doing so. Last year's topic was "environment" and I took up the challenge and wrote about the environment in conjunction with genealogy... two topics that don't really go hand in hand. But I pulled it off and hopefully got people thinking about how their ancestors impacted the environment.
This year, Blog Action Day is October 15, 2008 and the topic is "poverty". I've already registered the Creative Gene blog to participate and I will be writing on poverty as it relates to my family history. When a number of people write with one voice the message is louder and stronger. The call to action is greater. Won't you join in the cause?
I hereby challenge all Genea-Bloggers to take up the challenge with me. Think about how issues of poverty influenced your family's history and write about it. Register your blog's participation, promote the event on your blog, and post your article on October 15, 2008. Since that date will also be a COG deadline you'll want to plan ahead so you can participate in both! :-) Are you up to the challenge?
