In 1985 the elementary school had 473 students and the high school had 333 students. The schools are run by the Felician Sisters.

Most Detroit residents as well as visitors to the city, are unaware of the large Polish community that resides in Wyandotte. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel is one of three parishes that serve that community.
