Library of Michigan Makes Genealogy Workshop Materials Available Online

Materials from last month's Family History Month genealogy workshops given at the Library of Michigan are now available online in .pdf form (both the presentations and the handouts). You can access them here. The workshop topics include:

  • Getting Started: Tips for Beginning Your Family History Research
  • Family History Resources at the Library of Michigan
  • Researching Your Civil War Ancestor at the Library of Michigan
  • How to Organize Your Family History Research
  • Online Options: Accessible Authoritative Genealogy
  • French Canadian Resources at the Library of Michigan
  • Coming to America: Research With Ships Passenger Lists
Also of interest, the Archives of Michigan has the following presentations online:
  • Your Family History
  • Genealogy of a House
  • Archives of Michigan Military Records
This is a great idea, one I'd like to see all genealogical societies include on their web sites. It would be a great way to advertise their programs and at the same time provide a limited amount of content to all interested parties. It's a win-win idea. Is your society doing this? If not, maybe you should drop a note in their suggestion box!
