St. Ladislaus parish is located in the heart of the city of Hamtramck - often referred to as "Little Poland".

St. Ladislaus High School opened in 1929 and graduated thousands of Polish Americans before its closing in the early 1980s.

In the early 1970s, the High School offered courses not only in Polish language but also in Polish history, folk art, modern art, and folk dancing. Several study tours were also sponsored for students in Poland.

The elementary school is now closed. Back in 1985, the school had 238 students enrolled and was run by the Sisters of St. Francis (Sylvania, Ohio).

This parish had one of the finest Polish choirs in the State of Michigan.

Several years ago, the groundwork for a large Polish youth organization began at this parish.

Since its' founding, the parish has been one of the most stable and active Polish parishes in the Archdiocese.

Many parish members are involved in positions of leadership in metropolitan Polish organizations.

In 1985, the elementary school was still operating with 272 students, the high school with 333 students, and both were run by the Felician Sisters.

The St. Florian Strawberry Festival is a state-wide recognized celebration that draws tens of thousands of people.

St. Florian Church was selected for appearance in the National Geographic Magazine.

In 1924, the year of peak enrollment, St. Florian Elementary School had 2,853 students.
