The Polonica Americana Research Institute

Congratulations to my friend Ceil Jensen who has signed an agreement with Chancellor Whalen to open the Polonica Americana Research Institute on the historic campus of Orchard Lake!

This is terrific news for all of Polonia and anyone with Polish immigrant ancestors who at one time lived in the Detroit area. Genealogists rejoice! Ceil will be putting together informative exhibits and classes to share our rich Polish heritage with everyone. And let me tell you, the collections they have at Orchard Lake will astound you!

The Polonica Americana Research Institute (PARI) is part of the Polish Mission of Orchard Lake which has it's own blog. Do check it out and prepare to be impressed. If you've never been to the Polish museums at Orchard Lake you are really missing out! Their collection of Polish and Polish American historical memorabilia, archives, and art, is truly amazing.

Ceil is in the planning stages with the PARI and she is looking for input. If you are at all interested please complete the short survey she has put online here.

FYI... The next events the Polish Mission has lined up are:

4-6 September- Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the invasion of Poland

2-4 October- Polish Heritage Month and the 100th anniversary of the Seminary on the campus of Orchard Lake – complete with Dożynki !

Mark your calendars now!
